The rules have changed: Paying for Super Monday Night Combat

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1753 days, 13 hours, 16 minutes ago
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 8:12:12 AM GMT
With free-to-play games, the big question always boils down to, "How free is it, really?" Super Monday Night Combat is no exception. Fortunately, the folks at Uber Entertainment engineered Super Monday Night Combat so that players don't have to drop any money. To date, after over 100 hours of playtime, I've spent around 8 or 9 dollars – and they were completely unnecessary expenditures. (more)

Diablo 3 auction house now has gems and other commodities for real money

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1753 days, 13 hours, 28 minutes ago
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 7:59:58 AM GMT
Blizzard has pushed patch 1.0.3b live in Diablo 3, and in addition to a few random bugfixes with General chat and the tutorial sequences, the patch brings another wrinkle to real-money spending with the game. You can now buy various in-game commodities (including gems, dyes, and crafting and leveling materials) with real money, which means Blizzard has turned an unofficial black market for items in Diablo 2 into a very official real-money market in Diablo 3. The first trailer for Tomorrow Corporation's Little Inferno depicts a game that looks simultaneously entertaining and super depressing. In order to warm up an increasingly cooler world, you ... throw as many toys as you can into a fireplace. That's the premise, anyway. This is just the first teaser, so all the details of how you'll burn up toys have yet to be discussed. (more)

Things are a-changin' over in Rockstar Canada. Rockstar is moving their Toronto team into a much bigger studio, a part of which the Ontario government is footing the bill for (specifics of the financial details were not released). Part of this expansion plan will close the Vancouver studios and give the 35 employees there the choice to either join the Toronto team or any other Rockstar studio they want. Not bad. (more)
