Microsoft talks Summer of Arcade 2012 prices and dates -Destructoid

Having kept myself from hearing too much about it, Deadlight is what I'm most eager to see. Between the 1980s Pacific Northwest setting and zombie theme set against a puzzle-platformer backdrop, I'm already in. Note: if you grab any three of these games, you'll get 400 Microsoft Points back. That's doable. (more)

God of War: Ascension E3 demo pits Kratos against the animal collective

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1774 days, 1 hour, 18 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 7:02:46 AM GMT
Well, okay, maybe not that Animal Collective, but this God of War: Ascension walkthrough from Sony's E3 press conference does predominantly pit Kratos against a cadre of half-man, half-animal manimals. The demo also showcases Kratos' newly acquired reconstructive abilities, as well as the quick-time events we've all come to expect from the series. (more)

High-end gear in Dust 514 costs 24 cents in real money

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1774 days, 1 hour, 19 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 7:01:44 AM GMT
CCP Vice President Morgan Godat has revealed the real-world cost of a high-end set of gear in the upcoming EVE Online companion, Dust 514, and it might be cheaper than you expect: About 24 cents. If you were to equip a character in the game with some of the highest-level gear out there and send them out into battle with equipment all purchased directly with real money, it would really only cost you a cent less than a quarter. DOTA 2 update adds custom UI layouts

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1774 days, 1 hour, 20 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 7:01:12 AM GMT
PC gaming and UI customization go together like chocolate and peanut butter, or Nutella and literally anything else on the planet. It makes sense, then, that Valve would introduce the ability to completely customize DOTA 2's grid interface. Once created, players can export and share interface configurations they're especially proud of. (more)

You fumble through the darkness, your feet slopping in the rain. You have no idea where you are or how you even got here. An unfamiliar sound reverberates in the distance, its tinny undertones stinging your ears and furthering your sense of confusion. You're alone and have nothing to defend yourself with. And the only sound you can hear is that of your breathing, ragged with panic. (more)

Inversion review: Gears of Snore

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1774 days, 1 hour, 35 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 6:46:23 AM GMT
As a kid, there were only two things I truly loved: playing with a motley assembly of action figures, and reading Ender's Game. Inversion, somewhat implausibly, manages to combine Past Me's favorite pastimes. Its topsy-turvy, gravity-switching third-person shooting hearkens back to the portion of Ender's Game most ripe for a game spin-off: the Battle Room. In Inversion's best moments, the player and enemies alike float and dodge through the air, without a care in the world until a hail of bullets interru... (more)

Good news: the restructured Sega has not canceled the western release of Anarchy Reigns. However, Sega has delayed the release of Platinum's brawler again. Once set for July 2012 (which was a delay), then "to be confirmed," Sega has now given the game a Q1 2013 window in a brief message on Twitter. This game was supposed to be released in fall 2011. Anarchy Reigns release expected in 2013 now

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1774 days, 1 hour, 51 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 6:29:45 AM GMT
Once again, we have a vague idea of when Platinum Games' brawling action title Anarchy Reigns will be arriving in North America and Europe. It's going to be another lengthy wait. Originally planned for release in Fall of 2011, the game was delayed to January 2012, then further pushed back for a worldwide release in July. By the end of this past May, the situation had changed again, with the Japanese release the only one confirmed for the July date while the North American and European releases returned t... (more)

Following in the footsteps of EVE Online and DUST 514 developer CCP Games, Valve Software has brought on an academic economist. That certainly sounds like something Valve would do. Over on his new blog, Yanis Varoufakis tells the story of how he became the studio's economist-in-residence. (more)
