It's been nearly three years since No Doubt first filed against Activision for improper use of their likeness in 2009 Guitar Hero spin-off, Band Hero. Since then the evil publisher has counter-sued the band, claiming they were in breach of contract and are seeking to unjustly enrich themselves -- a humorous assertion from a company routinely trying to nickel-and-dime their customers into submission. Samsung posts Galaxy S III source code, modders start their engines

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1820 days, 1 hour, 53 minutes ago
Friday, June 01, 2012 9:33:19 AM GMT
That was fast: just a few days after the Galaxy S III reached buyers' eager hands, Samsung has posted the phone's source code. Its dutiful clinging to Google's Android guidelines opens the floodgates to custom ROMs as well as a better sense of what makes Samsung's Android 4.0 variant tick. As you'd anticipate, the code is only valid for the international GT-i9300 version. North American models, for the time being, are left out. Still, the source is useful for most anyone that wants to tinker with what sh... (more)

PSP gets its own homebrew online gaming network, outweighs Sony's own efforts (video)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1820 days, 1 hour, 54 minutes ago

Sony made much ado of the PSP's position as one of the first online gaming consoles, but unless your idea of online play involves Skype calls, there hasn't been a lot to go on since 2004. Team PRO is addressing that deficit through Prometheus, a completely community-driven rival to PSN. The hack lets PSP games with support for ad hoc WiFi play go online by wrapping the normal local-only multiplayer in an emulator library that broadcasts to other Prometheus players. (more)
