Here at Joystiq, we pride ourselves on bringing you the new hotness, but sometimes we miss things – like this pre-production concept footage from an audio guy's portfolio uploaded many moons ago. If it looks familiar, it's because this eventually became the original Assassin's Creed. (more)

FBI Wants Backdoors to Facebook, Twitter Immediately

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1936 days, 10 hours, 22 minutes ago
Saturday, May 05, 2012 8:55:26 AM GMT
It's no big secret that the FBI wants a backdoor to every American website planted on the Internet. However the government agency now wants the secret entrance unlocked as soon as possible -- like right this minute -- because the drastic shift from using telephones to using the Internet has made it nearly impossible for agents to wiretap Americans suspected of foul play. The bureau calls it a "Going Dark" problem, as its surveillance capabilities may diminish as technology advances if things don't change. (more)

XCOR Lynx propulsion tech tests well on motorcycle, suborbital trip still pricey

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1936 days, 10 hours, 28 minutes ago
Saturday, May 05, 2012 8:50:12 AM GMT
Before parting with $95,000 to secure a spot on the Lynx suborbital flight, you'd want to make sure the spacecraft was safe, right? XCOR doesn't blame you: it recently tested out its piston pump technology on a Triumph Street Triple motorcycle with great results. Sure, it's not the same as flying to the edge of space, but the Triumph has the same cylinder arrangement as the Lynx's liquid oxygen and kerosene fuel pumps and develops a similar amount of horsepower. First solar-powered boat to circle the world pulls into home port, contemplates next move

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1936 days, 10 hours, 28 minutes ago
Saturday, May 05, 2012 8:49:41 AM GMT
It's been two years since we last heard of the 98-foot-long solar-powered boat, which at the time was gearing up for its big journey around the world. Well, some 19 months and 37,286 miles after setting sail from Monaco, the MS Turanor PlanetSolar has finally made it home. The PlanetSolar broke four Guinness world records along the way, including the all-important "first circumnavigation by solar-powered boat," and it made stops on six continents to promote solar energy. Oh, and the team fended off Somal... (more)

Review: MLB 12 The Show (Vita)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1937 days, 11 hours, 11 minutes ago
Friday, May 04, 2012 8:06:27 AM GMT
Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth at AT&T Park with the heart of the order coming up, the division rival Padres brought out their new closer, Houston Street, to wrap up their victory. Street’s idiosyncratic windup and delivery made short order of the leadoff man, leaving an off-balance hitter flailing at a ball in the dirt. The Padres had the upper hand, but a one-out triple breathed some life into the crowd and gave them hope that the game would at least go into extra innings. Unfortunately, th... (more)

Review: Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1937 days, 11 hours, 12 minutes ago
Friday, May 04, 2012 8:05:41 AM GMT
The Naruto series of games is another in a long line of fighting titles based on a popular anime series. What seems to set this series apart from the others, however, is its focus on a pick-up-and-play attitude. While many games will focus on a series' storied history (or just its story) Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations aims to streamline everything so the focus is on the gameplay itself. Inventive scribbler Steve King -- no, not that one -- is working his fingers raw trying to raise $25,000 on Kickstarter. His project, the colorfully-named Hand Stylus, works with all your capacitive touchscreens, sports a retractable nib that rotates to avoid uneven wear, and even sticks to the magnet on an iPad. While it can't replace the need for natural digits, it could potentially come in handy while taking notes, sketching, cooking, or experiencing frostbite. Skip down below the break for a video if...
